What is the demand for massage therapy for sport horses?
I live in san diego, ca. Im a senior in high school and I want to take some classes for horse massage therapy. The experience will look good on my application to vet school, and i love horses. Plus, it will be a good job for me while im in college, trying to make extra money.
and do you think racehorse owners would hire a 18 year old with a sports massage therapist ceritficate to work on their horse?
Depends on the location you end up in after high school, how many others there are in the area, and how good you are at what you do. I know that at most stables I have been around, they use the same person for chiropractic and massage treatments, and sometimes acupuncture as well, so the market for someone who only does massage may not be huge. It would be helpful to perhaps offer a very low introductory rate for the first treatment so they could try you out? If you did a good job and charged reasonable rates, they would likely hire you to work again.
