When planning to visit to Maui for the first time, I was amazed at how few hotels on the island seemed to be. Where do visitors stay overnight?
After three trips to Maui now I understand the situation better. Maui missing mother-and-pop motels, cheap motel chain because it is not the kind of place you can go on the spur of the moment or where you need a place to stay for the night on the way to somewhere else.
Almost everyone will arrive by plane to Maui on vacation planned in advance. They – and you – have to stay three options for a place:
1) Expensive resort hotels. These are very good with features and amenities and pay accordingly. They offer water slides, wave pools tropical, luaus, fire-making ceremonies, beach chairs, Oceanside massages and yoga classes and babysitter for the children. You can expect maid service, concierge service, can be on-site consumption facilities, and pamper.
On Maui, some ski resorts family-friendly than others and some are known for their Hawaiian flavor known. If you do decide to spend a vacation, be sure to use activity and service options you would not in other parts of the world as lomilomi massage, stand-up paddling, whale watching get information booths outrigger canoe lessons and on-site restaurants, the Hawaiian Courts offer as macadamia-crusted mahimahi.
2) Condotel (condo-hotels). They can advertise as if they offer hotels and "hotel rooms" and suites with fully equipped kitchen, but the units are actually individually owned and decorated by the owners taste. In Maui, you will find the most number of Condotel in South Maui – Kihei and Wailea, with prices ranging from $ 100 per night in low season to $ 250 per night or more during the Christmas holidays. Be aware that "the sea" in Maui Condotel listing does not necessarily mean a beach, as some parts of the coastal rather rocky, and that "Ocean View" can be a hefty 15 minutes or more from the water.
If you book with a condotel, you usually have more influence and flexibility than you would directly with the owner in the form of a generous cancellation policy, more payment options, the possibility of a shorter Stay and some chance of switching to another device if you find fault with the device that you assigned.
3) Condos rented by the owner. They would find such advertising in-house Web sites and on a website run directly by the owners. These tend to be your least expensive option for a stay be in Maui. Off-season, many bargains can be found in the book during high season, you (and pay) to have also many months in advance get a decent wage. For Maui, is off-season 15th April – 15 December. In contrast to what you might expect, the high season is not the best weather. The off-season, in particular, by 15 April to late August, offers the least amount of rain.
